Academic Affiliations
The Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami has a number of academic affiliations with universities in the United States as well as in Latin America. It is a practicum site for the doctoral program of Carlos Albizu University in Miami, Florida, as well as a rotation site in neurocognitive rehabilitation for the neurology residence program of Larkin Community Hospital through Nova Southearstern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Internationally, the Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami is affiliated to the Graduate Division of Pontificia Universidad Madre y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and furnishes faculty for their Master of Science Program in Clinical Neuropsychology. The Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami also serves on a consultative basis for this university in their project of standardization of a battery of neuropsychological instruments for the Dominican Republic.
The Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami also maintains a very active relationship with Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia and serves as a practicum site for their students in clinical neuropsychology, as well as being involved in collaborative research programs and publications. Another active collaborative program carried out by the Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami is with Universidad del Magdalena, in Santa Marta, Colombia. The Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami serves as a practicum site for the psychology students of this university interested in clinical neuropsychology.
The Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami also maintains a close working relationship with Fundación Universitaria Luis Amigó of Medellin, Colombia. It is also a practicum site for graduate students of the university’s program in child neuropsychology.
The psychology program of Universidad de los Lagos in Puerto Montt, Chile also maintains a close relationship with the Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami, through the implementation of collaborative research programs between both institutions.

Professional Affiliations
The Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami maintains close professional services affiliations with a number of institutions in the Miami-Dade Metropolitan area. Salient among these is the implementation of neurocognitive evaluations and cognitive rehabilitation services in the Department of Neuropsychology of West Gables Rehabilitation Hospital, of which Jorge A. Herrera, M.D., Ph.D. serves as director and Gina Salcedo-Sampet, Psy.D. as associate director. West Gables Rehabilitation Hospital is a 60 bed in-patient facility which caters to the Hispanic community of Metropolitan Miami-Dade. Neurocognitive evaluations and cognitive rehabilitation services are provided at West Gables Rehabilitation Hospital upon referral by the patients’ attending physicians.
Patients who have sustained a cerebro-vascular accident and traumatic brain injury, as well as those who present cognitive decline due to a dementing disorder, exposure to anesthetics or the effects of a debilitating condition are provided services by the staff of Neurocognitive Rehab, Inc., an affiliate of the Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami.
Another close professional affiliation maintained by the Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami is with Medical Care Consortium, Inc. (MCCI). This organization runs primary out patient healthcare centers, in which staff of Neurobehavioral Services, Inc., another professional services affiliate of the Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami, also provide neurocognitive evaluation and cognitive rehabilitation services to patients referred by their primary care physicians. Services are provided in three MCCI primary care centers in Metropolitan Miami Dade, and in two centers in West Palm Beach.
